1:08:08Fundamentals of Molecular Biology by Elizabeth Allison. Great, great textbook that really goes into depth about kind of the processes, like the Lego block. You know, I always talk about like Lego blocks in biology and how everything is just trying to be Lego blocks. This is kind of where I get that from. Um This was the part of this course was also doing a molecular biology lab where we grew bacteria with GFP, green fluorescent protein. And then um we like a we expressed recombinant DNA. So, we had a plasmid with a green fluorescent protein, and that also had a little antibiotic attached to it or a way to

1:08:49circumnavigate the antibiotic so that you could only select for bacteria that had the plasmid, and then you could isolate the plasmid, and you can isolate the GFP protein. Um that was one One favorite courses at Princeton. It was like just doing this lab and like manipulating life. >> Yep. >> Like live. You know, you'd come back the next week and the bacteria were grown and like you could like do things with it. Um absolutely cool. Um this this this book is also amazing. Also, cool thing, um one of the guest lecturers during that course was Shirley Tilman, who was the president at the time of Princeton University. >> I I think I've told you this story, but I'll briefly share it. 1:09:30Tilman, my first day on campus, I was with a teammate of mine walking north on the campus. Um we were there for preseason, and so no one else was yet there. And we're walking and we, you know, we're just trying to figure out where our classes are going to be and stuff. And this nice person walked up to us and asked us where we're from and are we acclimatizing well? And we're like, yes, and we asked who it was who uh I think I I don't want to get the story wrong, so I'll just say they had asked um you know, who we were, and then we asked who they were, and then she said, Shirley Tilman. And we were like, oh, so what do you do?

1:10:11>> [laughter] >> She's like, oh, I'm the president of the university. So, that gives you an idea of where my uh lack of context was at the time as an 18-year-old who was just obsessed about being able to be there but also play soccer at the same time. Uh I will also note that one of the best bands at the university at the time was Shirley and the Tilmans. >> That was a good band. >> Great band. Great band name. >> Yeah. >> Uh and so for all of those if you if any of you who are band members are listening, we all remember. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
