Toilet trouble and Outlook in space

Um, the next thing that broke, though, was their Microsoft applications. So, astronauts, just like us, use Microsoft, and Outlook apparently was not working. If you If you go to the to the news, um, Artemis 2 astronauts find two Outlook instances running on their computers, and they had to call Houston to fix it because they couldn't open Outlook. And so, Houston had to remote into their computer to figure out what was going

13:26on. I don't know if like NASA uses Teams, but anyone who's used Microsoft Teams knows that it is probably the worst tool ever, but yet we just we're just like stuck with it. And I guess NASA is also stuck with outdated Microsoft applications on a computer that's going to the moon. Yes, I don't know that I don't think this is proprietary information, but my wife works at Disney streaming and they had to move from Slack to to Teams. >> oh my gosh. And you can imagine how fun that was. Oh dude, oh my god. >> incredible Microsoft continuing to cause problems even in space. >> Even in space. Yeah, we're trying to go to the moon and And Outlook? 14:07really? Uh another just brief fun fact that I'll touch on is a lot of people have been commenting on the difference in the quality of the media capture on the launch, right? Um versus SpaceX, which is and Blue Origin, which have been the commercial space space that we've seen so far. And this kind of just goes back to a couple of different things, right? The purposes are different. Um funding is different. >> Mhm. Uh the the sales aspect for the commercial air airliners uh space companies matters a lot. And so that is their product is showing off the thing actually in space. They invest heavily in that. They also have now a network of stuff they can use up there to do so.

14:47And when we're crunched for budgets in NASA, which have gotten even more crunched in the current administration, the money for the media budget is the first thing to go. And while you can focus on life support systems and things that are mission critical, safety, etc. etc. So this is why funding in science is You want good stuff, tell them to stop defunding NASA. They also gave the astronauts iPhone 17 Pro Maxes Okay. to take photos while they're like like non-science related, just fun photos while they're up there as well. So, I'd be curious to see uh what those look like.

Again, we have our model behind us. We did a deep dive episode previously. So, if you want a little bit more detail on actually what's happening, I will note the other last thing is they've actually changed the timing of Artemis 3 and 4. It looks like the goal now is mid-2027 for for Artemis 3, and then 2028 is when we're going to go to the moon. Uh some astute
