A neuroscience package deal to Birmingham
Cognitive neuroscientists Ron Mangun and Tamara Schwab, a married couple who spent decades at UC Davis, are relocating their entire lab to the University of Birmingham in the UK. Mangun, a distinguished professor and director of the Center for the Mind and Brain, co-authored the textbook 'Cognitive Neuroscience: The Biology of the Mind'. Schwab runs a cognitive neuroscience of language lab focused on how the brain handles meaning, prediction, and bilingualism across the lifespan. Schwab told NPR that the scientific optimism she once associated with the US now feels more present in Britain and Europe, while Mangun frames the move more as an opportunity than a reaction.
